George Morton is a conductor and arranger based in Sheffield. Having completed his postgraduate studies in composition and performance, he has gone on to develop a busy career as a freelance conductor, arranger and educator. He is artistic director and principal conductor of the Sheffield Rep Orchestra and succeeded Stephen Vickers as Musical Director of the Sheffield Youth Orchestra in January 2015. George is Principal Conductor of Rotherham Symphony Orchestra and Musical Director of the Nottingham University Wind Orchestra. From September 2018 George will be Musical Director of the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra. He has recently appeared as guest conductor with Sheffield Philharmonic, Hallam Sinfonia and Stamford Chamber Orchestra. George is a tutor of conducting both privately and at the University of Nottingham.
